How to report a copy of your work on Amazon
Checked against Amazon's official pages on
Amazon treats it as copyright infringement when someone uses something you designed, drew or wrote to sell a product without permission. Brands in Amazon Brand Registry use the Report a Violation tool; everyone else uses the public Report Infringement form.
- An Amazon account to sign in to the form.
- The ASIN or product page of each copy.
- A link to where your original was first published, such as your Etsy listing.
- Your name, address, phone number and email.
Step by step
- 01
Pick the right tool
Brand Registry members use Report a Violation (brandregistry.amazon.com). Everyone else uses the Report Infringement form at amazon.com/report/infringement.
- 02
Choose copyright
Say you're the rights owner, or their agent, and that the concern is copyright, for example a copied image or a product that copies your design.
- 03
Identify the listings
Enter the ASIN of each infringing product (the 10-character code in the product URL after /dp/).
- 04
Describe your work and sign
Describe the original, link to it, and confirm the good-faith and accuracy statements with your signature. File copyright and trademark complaints separately.
- §Your physical or electronic signature.
- §A description of the copyrighted work.
- §Where the infringing material is on Amazon (the ASINs).
- §Your address, phone number and email.
- §A good-faith statement, and a statement under penalty of perjury that the information is accurate.
After you file
- Brand Registry reports can be tracked in the Submission History tab.
- Amazon doesn't publish a standard response time for the public form.
- The seller can dispute the notice or file a counter notice.
Why reports get rejected
- Search-result links instead of product pages or ASINs.
- No link to where your original was published.
- Details that Amazon can't verify. Use the same name and email consistently.
Repeat infringers
Amazon says it will terminate the selling privileges of sellers who have repeatedly infringed.
