How to report a copy of your work on AliExpress

Checked against AliExpress's official pages on

AliExpress copyright complaints go through Alibaba Group's IP Protection Platform (IPP), which also covers Alibaba.com, Taobao, Tmall and 1688. You verify your identity and your right once, then submit listing links.

Before you start
  • An IPP account. Register with an email address, or log in with an AliExpress, Alibaba.com, Taobao, Tmall or 1688 account.
  • Proof of identity: a national ID card, passport or (for overseas users) a driver's licence. Companies need a business registration certificate or licence.
  • Proof of your right: an official copyright certificate, or, for unregistered copyright, IPP's completed Copyright Claim Statement.
  • If you act for someone else: the rights holder's ID and a letter of authorisation.
  • Your original image files. For copied photos, Alibaba asks for the original.

Step by step

  1. 01

    Register on IPP

Create an account at ipp.alibabagroup.com/register.htm and submit your identity documents.

  2. 02

    Add and verify your right

Upload proof of copyright: a certificate (with the registration page and the pages showing the work, both bearing the official seal) or the Copyright Claim Statement for unregistered work. Once verified, you don't resubmit it unless it expires.

  3. 03

    Submit a complaint

Choose AliExpress as the platform, add the infringing listing links and your evidence, and pick the reason, such as an unauthorised image on the product detail page.

  4. 04

    Track and respond

Follow each complaint's status in IPP. If the seller files a counter-notice, IPP forwards it to you so you can respond.

What the notice must include
  • §Links to individual product listings, never search pages, with up to 200 listings per submission.
  • §The verified copyright you're relying on.
  • §Evidence that shows the copy, such as the original image file and a screenshot of the listing.

After you file

  • After verification, the listing is removed and the seller is notified.
  • The seller can submit a counter-notice. Alibaba may review both sides' evidence before deciding whether to reinstate.
  • IPP doesn't state a standard processing time or counter-notice deadline on its instructions page.
  • If you can't use IPP, you can email a notice with evidence to ipr@alibaba-inc.com.

Why reports get rejected

  • More than 200 product listings in one submission.
  • URLs that point to search results instead of a specific listing.
  • Rights documents without the official seal or the pages showing the work.

Repeat infringers

AliExpress sellers accumulate penalty points for copyright infringement, counted from successful complaints by the same rights owner, whichever of their works was copied.
